They did it all. The display war. The processor war. The camera war. The memory war. And now, when everything seemed to be exhausted, the battle is on once again between the most basic and
elemental of things: the smartphone design. Monoblock and candybar phones are a thing of the past with the latest fad being curved smartphones or flexible phones.
Samsung recently launched their first ever curved smartphone, Samsung Galaxy Round and LG soon followed suit with LG G Flex. However, the phones were just slightly bended devices and not exactly flexible phones with put flexible screens, displayed at CES earlier this year, to use. Apple looks to be the latest manufacturer to jump in on the curved screen ‘revolution’.

According to reports, Apple is all set to launch bigger and curved iPhones next year. Knowing Apple, they definitely won’t be content developing just a regular curved phone. Grapevine reports state that Apple plans to modulate the pressure applied on the screens and develop screens with internal pressure gauging capabilities. So now, lightly tapping your screen might mean something different and a quick, hard jab might do something completely different.
Sensors and gesture recognition are nothing new to smartphones and Apple seems to be slowly expanding on their fingerprint recognition system. The new technology will definitely call for more features and completely change the way we use our smartphones. The new pressure touch technology does sound interesting though the implementation will make world of a difference to the comfort levels of using a screen with an inbuilt pressure gauge.
